The title comes from the idea of painted eleven cities that transmit many emotions from the American Continent to me.
It is a city seem from above, but it is also a door that, even if it is closed, becomes transparent.
Behind it there is a lot of color and joy that for me represents the People of Havana.
I have the feelings that there is always a gaze that observes you when you walk through Havana and I wanted to leave that feeling here.
I put a Sansiveria plant or " mother-in-law´s tongue" or " cat´s tail" that is very common to see there, behind the doors, as it protects from gossip.
I added a collection of miniature taxis and a double-decker bus because I wanted to reflect the change they i had noticed in the city in a few years. Foreign taxis form the hinges of the door, but the handle with which it can be opened is a cuban taxi from the 1950s.
During my continuous trips to Havana, I stopped seeing that city besieged in time and became an open city, giving way to influences that come from outside.
I am wearing some rings that my friend Luisito gave me on the terrace of the Hotel Telégrafo and with them I wanted to levave my passsion for the city in the painting.
